It's finally here! Our first hardware product! Let's take a look at the SuzyQ Board.
We're excited to finally show you the Fyra Labs SuzyQ Board, proudly co-developed with members of the Chultrabook Project. Using it, you can hack, flash, and unbrick your ChromeOS devices. The most common use-cases of the board are aiding in converting Chromebooks to "regular" laptops by flashing them with Coreboot, and unbricking them when things go wrong.
What?
We've been working on ways to repurpose Chromebooks as normal laptops. While our main initiative is currently Ultramarine for Chromebooks (which should be out soon), we also wanted to offer a high-quality and open-source SuzyQable-compatible board. While there are other boards on the market, we believed it was important to offer a product that was truly open-source/hardware (GPLv3), and met our quality expectations.
Why so long?
TL;DR:
- We have a lot of (exciting) things going on at Fyra which keeps us busy.
- US tariffs created a lot of uncertainty.
- Ensuring quality of product.
Also, most importantly, this was our first hardware product. With many lessons learned and building up a prototyping and testing workflow from the ground up, expect shorter lead times from announcement to preorders going forward.
